Its all fun and games at Dryfemount Care Home…

Keeping our elderly residents’ minds active is an important part of supporting their overall wellbeing and quality of life. Regular mental stimulation through activities such as conversations, games, puzzles, music, reading and creative sessions can help residents stay engaged, maintain existing skills and encourage social interaction. Keeping the brain active can also promote confidence, independence and a sense of purpose, while providing opportunities for enjoyment and connection with others. At our home, we believe that every resident should have opportunities to learn, participate and enjoy meaningful activities that stimulate both the mind and the spirit.

‘Wish Upon a Star’ Programme🌟

Our team run a ‘Wish Upon a Star’ programme, where every resident is invited to make a wish of something they would love to do, see or experience within the coming year. Wherever possible, every wish is fulfilled and any slightly ambitious wishes, i.e. a trip to the moon, are re-imagined in a more a achievable manner. For example, a recent wish was for a resident to paddle in the sea. Although her mobility didn’t allow this, our team made it possible by taking her to the seaside, and filling a paddling pool with sea water, bringing the sea to her!

Themed Open Days

At Dryfemount, we love opening our doors to the wider community, welcoming family, friends, and members of the public to join us for fun-filled open days throughout the year. These events are a wonderful chance for everyone to come together, get involved, and share in the lively atmosphere here at Dryfemount. Recent highlights have included a World Cup Day and a Dryfemount Hoedown — both thoroughly enjoyed by staff and residents alike!
